About the Program

The Diablo Valley College Library Technology Program trains students to work as paraprofessionals in libraries and information centers. We offer an Associates of Science degree (AS), and a Certificate. The program is currently on hiatus while undergoing curriculum review, with a planned restart date of January, 2017.

The program usually takes about two years to complete; students may begin the program at any point in the academic year. Most classes are offered on evenings and Saturdays to accommodate the schedules of working students. The courses offered have historically included an introduction to library technology; technical and access services; acquisitions; research skills; cataloging; reference services; and storytelling. Courses on school libraries and media centers, and digitization skills for libraries, are now under development.

For more information, please visit the program information on DVC’s  website, Library Technology Program, or contact the library at 925-969-2588.
