Ordering Specialist -Stanford, CA

Where: Stanford University – Stanford, CA

What: Reporting to the Ordering Operations Manager in the Acquisitions Department, the Ordering Specialist works directly with the bibliographers and curators responsible for collections in Humanities and International Area Studies, Social Sciences, and Sciences to establish orders for library materials in various formats and languages. The Ordering Specialist serves as a primary contact and resource for ordering materials in subject and/or language-specific collection areas, and establishes and maintains professional relationships with external service providers, including foreign and domestic vendors, publishers, and content providers. The Ordering Specialists regularly communicates internally with Technical Services staff to solve complex problems in acquiring monograph, serial, government document, out-of-print, media, map, special collection, database, electronic resource and other unique library materials.

Required Skills of Note: Two-year college degree plus three or more years of experience in an academic library, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
